Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson says he has been overwhelmed by the reception he received after talking about his battles with depression.

The professional wrestler and A-List Hollywood actor recently revealed that he saved his mother from a suicide attempt when he was 15 years old and added that this also caused him to suffer from depression.

“Struggle and pain is real,” he told The Express. “I was devastated and depressed. I reached a point where I didn’t want to do a thing or go anywhere. I was crying constantly.”

Since then, many have come out in support of Johnson, who has been praised for not conforming to the stereotypical image of masculinity, which encourages men to avoid their feelings and to avoid talking about depression if they suffered from it, as it is viewed as a sign of “femininity” and “weakness.”

If you are suffering from depression, remember that you are not alone and that there is help available.
