The Academy Awards finally returned to the Dolby Theatre on Sunday night and gave us another ceremony to remember. Everything Everywhere All At Once scored a historic triumph at this year’s ceremony with seven wins and picked up a trophy for best picture.
Everything Everywhere was up against The Banshees of Inisherin, Tár, and The Fabelmans in the best picture race, but it managed to overcome tough competition. Its producers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert picked up additional two awards—best director and best original screenplay.
Everything Everywhere was also the biggest winner on the acting front, and Michelle Yeoh’s win was especially memorable since she became the first Asian woman to win best actress. Her co-stars Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis dominated the supporting acting categories, while Brendan Fraser won a long-awaited best actor Oscar for The Whale.
All Quiet on the Western Front was the second biggest winner of the night, after coming out victorious in four out of nine categories it was nominated for. It won awards for best international feature film, original score, production design, and cinematography.
The 95th Academy Awards were held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12, with Jimmy Kimmel returning as the ceremony’s host for the third time.
