“Austin Powers” Star Verne Troyer Battled Alcohol Problems

Austin Powers star Verne Troyer, who passed away recently, battled alcohol addiction and had to be hospitalized just a month before his death, it has emerged.

The actor was best known for his role as Mini-Me in Austin Powers and to date, no official reason has been given for his death.

Troyer has been battling alcohol related problems for many years and in 2002, he nearly died from alcohol poisoning after a breakup.

During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter in 2016, Troyer spoke about his battles with alcohol and said: “That was a bad period in my life. I’ve learned from it, and I move on.”

In April 2017, he again spoke about his battles with alcohol and said: “I’ve battled alcohol addiction in the past and while it’s not always been an easy fight, I’m willing to continue my fight day by day.”

Troyer also made appearances in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and The Love Guru.
