“Vida” Renewed for Season 3

Mishel Prada and Melissa Barrera in "Vida"

Starz has renewed Vida for a third season.

News of the renewal comes less than a week after season two of the hit drama debuted on the cabler.

The series was created by Tanya Saracho. It follows Mexican-American sisters Lyn and Emma, played by Melissa Barrera and Mishel Prada, as they move back into their childhood LA home after their mother dies.

The two, who couldn’t be more different — Lyn is a vegan free spirit, and Emma is the corporate type — inherit a family-owned bar from their mother.

“It is a rarity in television today to have a series earn this level of critical praise for two consecutive seasons and spark cultural conversation in the way that Vida has,” Starz COO Jeffrey Hirsch said in a statement.

“We are proud to continue to tell this story with Tanya and the incredible cast and crew she has assembled.”

In season two, “Lyn and Emma must contemplate the relationships in their lives, including their own, and are forced to dig deep to unearth what their mother’s legacy means to them,” according to Starz.

The series also stars Ser Anzoategui as Eddy, Chelsea Rendon as Marisol, Carlos Miranda as Johnny and Roberta Colindrez as Nico.
