A great soundtrack can make an average movie better. An epic original film score can make a great movie flawless. Here are our top 10 film scores which do just that.

10. Jurassic Park

John William sparks wonder and excitement in a way which perfectly compliments Spielberg’s production.

9. Lord of the Rings

An obvious choice but Howard Shore must be credited for his fantastical score which brings another level of perfection to the epic franchise.

8. ET

Credit to John Williams again for a theme which I can’t listen to without blubbering like a baby.

7. Harry Potter

It’s probably cheating to not specify which one, but the music in every film is great and the theme is iconic.

6. Blade Runner

Vangelis sets the futuristic and dystopian feel of the movie admirably in Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner.

5. Amelie

A lovely piece of music by Yann Tiersen which sets the atmosphere of Paris through Amelie’s eyes beautifully.

4. Schindler’s List

Another John Williams masterpiece which has to be one of the most emotional themes in the history of film.

3. Requiem for a Dream

Clint Mansell’s score is exhilarating and makes the climax of the movie even more shocking and memorable.

2. Star Wars

Do I really need to say anything about this one?

1. Jaws

John Williams did something amazing when he managed to write a theme which was terrifying, suspense invoking and immediately identifiable regardless of whether or not you’ve seen the movie. He did all this with just two spine-chilling notes.
