The Greatest Showman 2 is In the Works, According to Hugh Jackman

There have been lots of rumors lately that 2017’s musical drama The Greatest Showman could get a follow-up and it turns out that they might turn out to be true. According to Hugh Jackman, who starred as ringmaster P.T. Barnum in the original, The Greatest Showman 2 is in the works.

“The real answer is ‘could be,’ I’m not sure,” said Jackman during an appearance on BBC 2. “I’m being completely honest with you, there is talk of something going around but no one is really sure. But I think someone is working on a treatment for something… I know they are, they’re working on a treatment for something.”

While Jackman what will be the story of the sequel, he wouldn’t mind being part of it.

“I would like to be a part of it for sure, and I don’t know if it would be centered on my character.” – the 50-year-old actor said.

Michael Gracey, who directed the original, also previously spoke about the sequel, saying that the discussions about the project have already begun but failing to offer further details.

The Greatest Showman is based on the life of American showman and politician P. T. Barnum and tells the story about the creation of his legendary Barnum & Bailey Circus and the lives of its stars.  While the film wasn’t a success with the critics, it did exceptionally well at the box office, earning $435 million compared to $84 million budget. It also won several major awards including the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song,
