“The Matrix” to be re-released on 4L Blue-ray

Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in "The Matrix"

The Matrix is set to be re-released on 4K Blu-ray. The remaster is set to be available on May 22nd, almost 20 years after its original release.

The Matrix was written and direct by The Wachowski Brothers and depicts a dystopian future where humans are actually living in a simulation. It starred Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, and Carrie-Anne Moss. The popular sequels “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions” proceeded in 2003.

The remaster will bring you the movie in the highest resolution yet. This means that the astounding visuals and action scenes will be even more mind-blowing. The Matrix is known for its use of the “bullet time” visual effect. This is when the heightened perception of characters is represented by allowing slow-motion action shots while the camera’s viewpoint appears to move through the scene at normal speed.

Bill Pope, the original photography director, has supervised the remaster. The film’s soundtrack has also been remixed for the Dolby Atmos format.

The screenwriter, Zak Penn, clarified on Twitter that the new movie will not be a reboot or remake. The original movie is flawless and a remake would be entirely unnecessary. The re-release is to bring you the same quality movie, on a higher quality disc.
