There are hundreds of reasons why the original Disney movies are still enchanting today and one of them is the catchy and wonderfully endearing songs. It’s been hard not to put the entire soundtrack of The Jungle Book and The Lion King on our list, but we had to put a couple on there. Here are ten of our favorites:
A Whole New World, Aladdin
The perfect track for soaring through the skies, on a magic carpet ride.
Hakuna Matata, The Lion King
It’s an obvious choice but we’d be lying if we didn’t say it was one of our favorites. It’s upbeat, catchy and it literally means “no worries”.
You’ll be in my heart, Tarzan
It is the only time it is ever acceptable to cry to Phil Collins.
Beauty and the Beast
Romantic and lovely.
Circle of Life, The Lion King
Another absolute anthem from The Lion King that we couldn’t resist putting on here.
Trust in me, The Jungle Book
It’s strangely avaunt-guard and as hypnotic as Kaa’s eyes in Jon Favreau’s remake.
Go the Distance, Hercules
Sometimes helps me get out of bed in the morning.
Kiss the Girl, The Little Mermaid
A lively little calypso sung by the wonderful Flounder and Sebastian.
When you wish upon a star, Pinnochio
A heartwarming song about hope.
I wanna be like you, The Jungle Book
A popular cover for gypsy-jazz bands everywhere. It’s catchy and we loved Christopher Walken’s version in the remake, even though we adored the original.
