Deadline confirms that Lady Gaga has been cast in Ridley Scott’s new movie about the Gucci family.

Scott directs from the script by Roberto Bentivegna. Bentivegna is adapting the script from a book by Sara Gay Forden titled The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.

According to the outlet, the iconic singer-songwriter will portray Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci in the film. Reggiani was tried and convicted of her ex-husband’s assassination in Italy in 1995. She earned the nickname the Black Widow during the trial and served 18 years before being released from prison in 2016.

This will be Gaga’s first major feature role since her breakout performance in A Star Is Born for which she earned a best actress nomination.
