Multiple outlets report that the 9 to 5 sequel is officially not happening.
The planned comedy sequel has been scrapped according to a source close to the production. The follow-up series to the 1980 comedy was set to reunite original stars Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton, and Lily Tomlin.
Even before news of the cancelation dropped, Parton had her doubts.
“I don’t think we’re going to do the sequel,” Parton said. “We never could get the script to where it was enough different than the first one, and that one turned out so good.”
Parton added that she and her co-stars have “dropped that whole idea.”
