Sony’s Jumanji 3, sequel to 2017’s blockbuster hit Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, just received some exciting cast additions.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lethal Weapon star Danny Glover was cast in an undisclosed role alongside Danny DeVito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians).

The news about the new cast additions was also confirmed by Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star Dwayne Johnson.

“From Awkafina to Danny DeVito to now one of my action heroes, Danny Glover — it’s been awesome having so many actors and OG legends raise their hands wanting to come and play in our Jumanji universe,” Johnson told THR. “‘Who turns into who?’ will always be the fun magic sauce for our audience.”

Directed by Jake Kasdan, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle served as a sequel to 1995 film Jumanji, which starred Robin Williams and was based on a children’s book of the same name from Chris Van Allsburg.

The movie starred Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan among others, and ended up being a surprise hit. It received praise from the critics, while earning $962.1 million at the box office.

After being teased for some time, Jumanji 3 was announced in February 2018, with Kasdan returning as a director and the lead actors returning to reprise their roles.

The principal photography is scheduled to start in by the end of January, while the release date was set for December 13, 2019.
