HBO Max Shares the First Look at the New “Gossip Girl” Lineup

TV reboots will be all the rage in 2021, and if we had to pick one that everyone’s raving about, we’d have to go with the Gossip Girl revival. After a lot of anticipation surrounding this project, HBO Max finally unveiled the lineup of the new Gen Z characters.

In a series of Instagram posts, we see the cast of the highly-anticipated reboot—including Emily Alyn Lind, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, and Jordan Alexander—rocking glitzy costumes while dressed as their characters. Each photo is captioned with names of characters and words that best describe each one, such as influence, privilege, power, and ambition.

The new show isn’t a direct sequel or reboot, but it takes place in the same universe and shares DNA with the original Gossip Girl. Here’s what the official logline has to say about it: “Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl.”

This series still doesn’t have an official release date, but it’s expected to premiere on HBO Max later this year. Kristen Bell will be returning as the voice of Gossip Girl, but it’s unclear if any of the original cast members will make a cameo in the new series.
