The Latinx dramedy Gentefied has been renewed by Netflix for a second season.

The half-hour comedy will feature eight episodes in the second season, which is two fewer than the first season, and the cast will be doing a virtual table read on May 20.

Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chávez, Chicano first-gen writers, created the bilingual series from the 2017 Sundance webseries of the same name. Gentefied is set in Los Angeles and centers around three Mexican-American cousins who are trying to chase after the American Dream while the dream threatens the things they care most about which include their neighborhood, their immigrant grandfather, and the family taco shop. The series is about family, community, brown love, and displacement.

Karrie Martin, JJ Soria, Carlos Santos, and Joaquín Cosio star in the series.

Gentefied is one of the recent Netflix renewals which includes Ricky Gervais’ After Life, Locke & Key, Lost in Space, AtypicalLove Is Blind, and The Circle.
