After a lot of anticipation, the Gen Z revival of Gossip Girl is just around the corner. HBO Max gave us the perfect surprise just a month before its release—a cryptic teaser trailer that introduces us to the new generation of the Upper East Side’s scheming teenagers.

The new trailer also marks the return of Kristen Bell’s titular narrator and you’ll feel the chills after hearing her voice, as she spills the tea in her voiceover: “Thinking you’re in control of your image, your actions, the narrative. But you forgot one thing: I can see you. And before I’m through, I’ll make sure you see me too. XOXO.”

In addition to Bell, the new version of Gossip Girl will also star an ensemble cast of relative newcomers, which includes Jordan Alexander, Zión Moreno, Emily Alyn Lind, Whitney Peak, Thomas Doherty, Eli Brown, Johnathan Fernandez, and Tavi Gevinson.

It’s unclear if any of the original cast members will make an appearance since this show isn’t a direct sequel. According to its showrunner Joshua Safran, the new version of Gossip Girl shares the same universe as the original but shines a light on a new set of characters. The series is expected to premiere on HBO Max on July 8th.
