Ryan Murphy’s second season of The Politician, starring Ben Platt, returns to Netflix on June 19 and just a few days before the release, the official trailer has dropped.
Season 2 of The Politician will catch up with Ben Platt’s Payton Hubert, a 22-year-old who dreams of becoming President, and to make that goal a reality, he has to make his way to the senate.
The second season adds Judith Light who plays Senate Majority Leader Dede Standish, Payton’s new rival, and Bette Midler who plays her Chief of Staff, Hadassah Gold. Before unseating Standish, Payton has to figure out what kind of politician to be. Does he want to expose his component’s secrets and lies?
Gwyneth Paltrow returns as Payton’s mom, Georgina Hobart, who from the trailer looks like she doesn’t fully support her son’s political ambitions. Also returning are Zoey Deutsch, Lucy Boynton, Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Germaine, David Corenswet, and Ryan Haddad. Jackie Hoffman has been added to Season 2.
The Politician was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan. Paltrow, Platt, and Alexis Martin Woodall served as executive producers.
