‘Transparent’ Team Talks About Series Finale

Jeffrey Tambor and Trace Lysette in "Transparent."

Following Transparent’s series finale, which took place Friday night at LA Live’s Regal theater,  Jill Soloway took a moment to reflect about the way the show ended.

The acclaimed show suffered its fair share of turbulence after Jeffrey Tambor who portrayed the titular characters, Maura Pfefferman, was fired in 2017 following harassment allegations.

“It feels like a gigantic celebration, like a hot air balloon going up in the sky,” Soloway said.

“I think because of all the chaos — and all of the ways in which our show had to re-examine who we were — having a musical gave us a new path forward, a new reason to be. This isn’t just like putting a button on the series,” she said. “It’s kind of like transitioning — twirling and flying into a new direction.”

She also revealed that she’s definitely up to reunion the Pfeffermans played by Judith Light and her on-screen children played by Gaby Hoffman, Amy Landecker, and Jay Duplass.

“I would love to do a sequel, a tri-quel, a Pfefferman family cruise for the Jewish high holidays, whatever! I’ll do anything.”

Variety was first to report the story.
