Stellan SkarsgÄrd, the actor who plays Bill in the all-singing-all-dancing Mamma Mia franchise has confirmed that he is 100% up for a third movie.

Mamma Mia hit cinemas back in 2008 and has since been dubbed one of the most popular cinematic musicals of the 21st century. Last summer, the sequel in the form of a prequel hit cinemas and fans delighted in the return of Meryl Streep and a young Donna. But could another sequel be on the cards and would the cast be up for it? Stellan SkarsgÄrd is certainly up for it.

Speaking with Digital Spy, the star revealed he would not hesitate before joining a second sequel to Mamma Mia. He claimed: “I wouldn’t have to read the script. If they call, I’ll come.”

SkarsgĂ„rd reckons there is scope for a third movie but wonders whether there are enough Abba songs in the group’s catalog for a sequel to work. “I think that the problem is, do they have enough songs; do they have the right songs?” he questioned.

He added: “Can they come up with a story which doesn’t have to be that plausible, but plausible enough? But if they want to do it, I’ll be there.”

There were ten years between the first and second film so we’ll probably get back to you with more details in 2027.
