Sasha Velour is teaming up with Quibi.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race season 9 winner will executive-produce an eight-part Quibi series. According to Entertainment Weekly, Velour will adapt her live, underground drag performance show for the streaming service.
Nightgowns was launched in 2015 in Brooklyn. The popular showcase for underground performance artists will be available in the new format in 2020. Velour took to social media to share the exciting news with her fans.
“Nightgowns is coming to Quibi! An eight-part series will debut on the new platform next year. Part behind-the-scenes documentary, part lip-sync spectacular…I’m so excited for you to see the next stage of this very special drag show! Executive produced by me, with Academy Award-nominated producers from The Documentary Group and groundbreaking Grammy Award-winning music video director Sophie Muller.”
Velour joins other major names that are helming projects for the new bite-size steaming platform including Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Lopez, Scooter Braun, Chrissy Teigen, Tyra Banks, Lena Waithe, and more.
