The Riverdale team has teamed with HBO Max on a new drama pilot.

Variety reports that Riverdale’s Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and the show’s writers Tessa Leigh Williams and James DeWille co-created a new series, which has just been given a pilot order by HBO’s forthcoming streaming service.

The newest addition to the gothic horror genre, titled The Shelley Society, follows a young Mary Shelley and a band of her fellow Romantics as they battle supernatural threats.

Co-creators Aguirre-Sacasa, Williams and DeWille will also serve as executive producers with Aguirre-Sacasa serving as showrunner as well.

The Shelley Society marks Aguirre-Sacasa first project under his new overall deal with WBTV.

HBO Max is expected to launch in the spring of 2020.
