Original Cast of “Monsters, Inc.” Will Return for Disney+ Animated Series

Disney recently shared some exciting details about a TV spinoff for the beloved animated movie from 2001, Monsters, Inc. The spinoff, titled Monsters at Work, will see the majority of the original voice cast making their return.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, John Goodman will reprise his role of Sulley while Billy Crystal will return as Mike Wazowski. Goodman and Crystal will be joined by other original cast members John Ratzenberger, Jennifer Tilly, and Bob Peterson who will again lend their voices to Yeti, Celia, and Roz respectively. Ben Feldman, Kelly Marie Tran, Henry Winkler, Lucas Neff, Alanna Ubach, Stephen Stanton, and Aisha Tyler will join the project as the new members of the cast. 

Monsters at Work is set to premiere in 2020 on Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+. According to the official synopsis, the story of the animated series takes place six months after the events in the original and follows Tylor Tuskmon (Feldman), an “eager and talented mechanic on the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team who dreams of working on the Laugh Floor alongside Mike and Sulley.”

Directed by Pete Docter, Monsters, Inc. was a big hit with both the audience and the critics upon its release. The movie earned $577.4 million at the box office while picking up numerous accolades including Academy Award for Best Original Song for “If I Didn’t Have You.” The prequel, titled Monsters University, was released in 2013.
