Most of us know Octavia Spencer as one of Hollywood’s most prolific supporting stars, but she’s also a pretty successful producer. The Oscar winner is getting ready to focus on this aspect of the movie business, through her newly launched production company.
She founded Orit Entertainment alongside Brian Clisham, and the duo already entered a three-year pod deal with 20th Century Fox TV.
Clisham spent the last 13 years working for talent agency WME, and Spencer said he was instrumental in shaping her career.
“He has always understood my desire to work with a diverse group of talent both in front of and behind the scenes. I trust his taste and his counsel and know he will thrive in this new role. We are always on the same page and most importantly, have a lot of fun!” said Octavia Spencer to Deadline.
The list of the projects set to be produced under the Orit banner includes Apple show Truth Be Told and Netflix series Madam CJ Walker. Spencer is also set to executive produce upcoming horror film Ma, her latest collaboration with The Help director Tate Taylor.
