It has been 10 whole years since Mama Mia first appeared on our screens and we have been daydreaming about a sequel since. The new trailer came out yesterday and it looks like the ABBA extravaganza will be well worth the wait.

The movie follows on from the previous title and features a pregnant Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) who turns to her mum (Meryl Streep) for advice on how to handle motherhood. The film will focus less on Sophie and more on her mother’s wild and colorful past. Lily James plays the role of bold and carefree young Donna. It looks like we will be learning more about the love and loss of the three men who appear again in Donna’s life after Sophie contacts them in search of her birth dad in Mama Mia.

Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard, and Pierce Brosnan will return as Sophie’s potential dads. More excitingly, Cher will be rocking up at some point in the movie to crash the party. Fittingly, Cher had a cameo in ABBA’s last video in 2004.

The US release date is set to be July 20th, 2018 and it looks like it could be in the running for the movie of the summer. Save the date.
