Kevin Hart is hard at work on a Scrooged remake.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Hart and Paramount have teamed up to bring us a remake of the 1988 Christmas comedy that starred Bill Murray.

Hart will produce the project via his HartBeat Productions and, according to the outlet, will likely star in the feature.

Being in very early stages of development, the search for a writer is currently on.

The original was directed by Richard Donner. It was a modern-day retelling of the Charles Dickens novel that followed a greedy TV executive (Murray) who is visited by three ghosts in an effort to regain his Christmas spirit. The original also starred Karen Allen, Bobcat Goldthwait and Robert Mitchum.

Hart is currently one of the voice stars of The Secret Life of Pets 2. You can see him next in the sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which is slated to arrive in theaters in December.
