It has been definitely confirmed that Johnny Depp will be cast again in the third instalment of the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

The Hollywood actor plays dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts series. He has revealed that he will begin production for the third segment in “the middle of next year.”

The news follows Depp’s most recent denial of abuse claims made against him by his ex-wife, Amber Heard. He claimed that the allegations were entirely false, saying: “It couldn’t even sound like me.”

Nonetheless, the decision to cast Johnny Depp in light of allegations have continued to divide opinion.

The writer of the franchise, J.K. Rowling, however has previously stated that she is on board with Johnny Depp’s involvement.

“Based on our understanding of the circumstances, the filmmakers and I are not only comfortable sticking with our original casting, but genuinely happy to have Johnny playing a major character in the movies,” she said.

“I accept that there will be those who are not satisfied with our choice of actor in the title role. However, conscience isn’t governable by committee. Within the fictional world and outside it, we all have to do what we believe to be the right thing.”

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is due for release November 16th.
