Joe Goldberg left chaos and destruction everywhere he went for the four seasons of You, but he won’t be doing it for much longer. Netflix renewed this fan-favorite crime drama for its fifth season, which will also mark the end of Joe’s murderous journey.

The final season of You will bring one major change our way, as Sera Gamble prepares to stop down as showrunner. Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo will take over from her after serving as executive producers since Season 1 and Season 2, respectively.

The final season of You is less of a cancelation and more of a natural conclusion for the acclaimed show, and its producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter never wanted it to run for longer.

“Ever since our friends at Alloy shared Caroline Kepnes’ fantastic book, we have always conceived it as a five-season journey. We are excited to continue our relationship with Mike and Justin as they take over the reins as co-showrunners and prepare to bring Joe Goldberg home,” said the duo in a statement.

Penn Badgley will return as Joe Goldberg in Season 5, most likely along with Charlotte Ritchie, who plays his new girlfriend Kate. Season 4 concluded with the couple moving back to New York and using Kate’s inheritance to clear Joe’s name and rehabilitate his public image.
