Idris Elba and Stranger Things’ Caleb McLaughlin are set to become Concrete Cowboys.

They join Jharrel Jerome, who was just nominated for an Emmy for his performance in Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us, Lorraine Toussaint (The Village), and Byron Bowers (The Chi).

The film, inspired by the novel Ghetto Cowboy and the real Fletcher Street Stables, an urban horsemanship community in Philadelphia, follows “15-year-old Cole (McLaughlin) who is taken to live with his estranged father Harp (Elba) in North Philadelphia, where he discovers the city’s vibrant urban cowboy subculture, which flourishes despite the surrounding poverty, violence, and encroachment of gentrification.”

Ricky Staub is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dan Walser.
