Netflix is taking Hilary Swank to Mars.
The two-time Academy Award winner has joined forced with the streaming giant for its new and forthcoming space drama. Away hails from Jason Katims and Matt Reeves.
The Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby actress has been tapped to headline the drama playing American astronaut Emma Green, who must leave her husband and teenage daughter behind to command an international space crew embarking upon a treacherous mission to the Red Planet.
The series is about hope, humanity and how we need one another if we are to achieve impossible things. It was penned by playwright Andrew Hinderaker and according to sources, it is loosely inspired by Chris Jones’ Esquire article of the same name.
Jessica Goldberg has signed on to serve as showrunner. Universal Television is producing. Swank will also exec produce.
