Henry Cavill on “Man of Steel 2” Release: “Somewhere between 2019 and 2045”

Man of Steel 2 is one of the movies DC fans have been hoping to get for years now. The original, 2013’s Man of Steel, wasn’t a perfect movie, but it made us curious about what might follow after it. Still, Warner Bros. decided to focus on other Superman-featured projects and tie-in movies like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Henry Cavill, who stars as Superman in the DC Extended Universe, recently talked about the possibility that the fans will get Man of Steel 2 and decided to reveal a release date for the project.

“I can say this… it is likely we will see another Superman movie somewhere between 2019 and 2045,” Cavill jokingly told Fandango’s Erik Davis.

This means that even Cavill doesn’t know the current status of the movie, and is in the dark just like most of us.

The first reports about a Man of Steel sequel came in 2016, when it was revealed that Warner Bros. has made the project as their top priority. Around the same time, Amy Adams, who plays Lois Lane in the DC Extended Universe, confirmed that a screenplay for Man of Steel 2 is in the works. In April 2018, it was reported that Christopher McQuarrie, who worked with Henry Cavill on Mission: Impossible – Fallout, might take over the directorial duties.

On the other hand, there is a strong possibility that we already saw the sequel of Man of Steel. Zack Snyder, the director of the original, thinks that “in a way, Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2.”
