Most fans of The Witcher can’t imagine this show without Henry Cavill, but they’ll have to do it soon since he won’t be around for much longer. Cavill exited the series ahead of Season 4, and Liam Hemsworth is set to take his role of Geralt of Rivia.

Cavill released an official statement announcing his exit and sent words of encouragement Hemsworth’s way as he starts exploring this amazing character.

“In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men,” said Cavill in a statement.

Liam Hemsworth echoed his words, describing Cavill as “an incredible Geralt” and thanked him for allowing him to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. He’s best known for starring in the Hunger Games franchise, but we’ve recently seen him on Netflix’s own Isn’t It Romantic.

Cavill’s exit is quite a shocker for The Witcher fan, but it wasn’t that difficult to predict since it comes shortly after he announced his return as Superman in the DCU. We’ll still get to see him play Geralt of Rivia in Season 3, set to premiere on Netflix next year.
