Paramount+ has given us several chapters of the Yellowstone story, and another one is just around the corner. The premiere of the highly-anticipated prequel 1923 is just a few weeks away and the official trailer starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford gave us a taste of things to come.

According to the show’s official logline, “the series will explore the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.”

Mirren and Ford will take lead roles as family matriarch and patriarch Cara and Jacob Dutton, and they’ll be in pretty good company. The supporting cast includes Jerome Flynn, Jennifer Ehle, Timothy Dalton, Sebastian Roché, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, and James Badge Dale.

The first episode of 1923 will air on Paramount+ on December 18, following one of the Season 5 episodes of Yellowstone. The streamer already ordered two seasons of the series, and they’re expected to feature eight episodes each.

1923 is the second Yellowstone spin-off, following the success of 1883, starring Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott. Paramount+ is also plotting another modern-day spin-off titled 6666, set to premiere sometime next year.
