While you wait for the new season of The Witcher to come out, Netflix prepared a very special Christmas present for the show’s fans. The premiere date of The Witcher: Blood Origin is just around the corner and the streamer teased its release with a brand-new trailer.

According to Netflix’s official synopsis, “more than a thousand years before the events of The Witcher, seven outcasts in an Elven world join forces in a quest against an all-powerful empire.”

The series will center on Éile and Fjall, who hails from warring clans and must learn to trust one another if they have any hope of leading this band of outcasts on their quest to topple the continent’s oppressors.

Éile and Fjall will be played by Sophia Brown and Laurence O’Fuarain, while the show’s supporting cast will include Michelle Yeoh, Mirren Mack, Lenny Henry, Minnie Driver, Dylan Moran, Jacob Collins-Levy, and Francesca Mills, among others.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is premiering on Netflix on December 25, and it will feature four episodes. It will fill in the gaps while the viewers wait for the third season of The Witcher, which will see Henry Cavill play Geralt of Rivia for one last time, before passing the sword to Liam Hemsworth.
