Forrest Gump is Getting a Bollywood Remake

Would the iconic “Run, Forrest, run!” line from 1994’s Forrest Gump be still iconic if it instead said: “Dance, Forrest, dance!” Well, we are about to find that our since this Robert Zemeckis’ masterpiece is getting a Bollywood remake.

The remake will be titled Lal Singh Chadha, and it will star Indian superstar Aamir Khan in the main role, which was portrayed by Tom Hanks in the original. Khan’s frequent collaborator Advait Chandan will direct the feature.

“We have bought the rights from Paramount,” said Khan off Forest Gump Bollywood remake. “I have always loved Forrest Gump as a script. It is a wonderful story about this character. It is a feel-good film. It is a film for the whole family.”

According to Khan, the remake will enter production in October of this year and might be ready for release in the fall of 2020.

Forest Gump was based on the novel of the same name by Winston Groom, and told the life story of “slow-witted but kind-hearted man” named Forest Gump who witnessed, influenced or took part in several key events of the past century. The movie was a big box office hit, earning $677.9 million while also receiving critical acclaim. It won numerous awards among which are six Academy Awards including the nods for Best Picture, Best Director for Zemeckis, and Best Actor for Hanks.
