Florence Pugh could be joining the Marvel action thriller.

The rising star is in talks to star opposite Scarlett Johansson in the standalone superhero film about Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, the spy and assassin trained by the KGB turned  agent of SHIELD and Avenger. The character of Black Widow was first introduced in Iron Man 2 in 2010.

According to sources, the studio met with several actresses but opted for Pugh following her great reviews for her performance on Fighting With My Family. It is unclear what role Pugh is set to play should she join as additional details have been kept under wraps.

The action thriller will be directed by Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland. The project has been in development for a while, with the latest draft of the script penned by Jac Schaeffer.

Pugh also stars in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women alongside Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, and Meryl Streep.
