An Obi-Wan spinoff series is officially coming to Disney+.

The long-rumored series has been confirmed.

Disney+ announced the series onstage at D23, the company’s biennial convention, this Friday at Anaheim. “It feels so nice to say,” Ewan McGregor said to expo-goers.

“Internally, we’ve wanted this for so long, but we know how much the fans want it too,” Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy told Entertainment Weekly. “And we know we have to get it right.”

She continued: “McGregor wanted to come back, and he’s so excited to play the character of Obi-Wan again. He really does embody who Obi-Wan is. And to think that Alec Guinness was really his mentor and now he’s stepping into those shoes for this series, it’s really exciting.”

Shooting is planned for 2020. No launch date for the spinoff series has been announced.
