FX’s anthology horror series American Horror Story is set to return in the fall of 2019, but there will be one familiar face missing. Evan Peters, who is the only actor alongside Sarah Paulson to appear in all eight seasons, recently revealed that he wouldn’t be part of the series’ cast for season nine.

During an interview at WonderCon, Peters was asked directly whether he is involved in the new season of American Horror Story.

“No. I’m going to sit a season out,” the 32-year-old actor responded.

You can watch the clip in which Peters confirms he won’t be involved in the next season below.

We currently don’t have many details on American Horror Story season nine, which enters production in the summer of 2019, except that Emma Roberts will return while Gus Kenworthy was cast to play her boyfriend. The series was recently renewed for season 10 which will premier in 2020.

While he takes a break from AHS, Evan Peters will reprise his role of Peter Maximoff / Quicksilver in Dark Phoenix, the latest entry in X-Men film series. He is also expected to return for season two of Pose while also making an appearance in the movie I Am Woman.
