“Crashing” Canceled After Three Seasons

Pete Holmes and Madeline Wise in "Crashing"

HBO has cut out Crashing from its comedy lineup.

Crashing has been canceled after three seasons and the comedy’s third seaspn finale is now officially the series finale.

Crashing opened the world of stand-up comedians to viewers. The series, inspired by the life of lead Pete Holmes, followed a semi-fictionalized version of himself as he decides to pursue a career in stand up comedy after his wife cheats on him and divorces him.

The announcement of cancelation was made by series director Judd Apatow during a recent appearance on Conan.

“Well, it’s not really canceled,” Apatow told host Conan O’Brien. “We’re just going to stop making it.”

“What stopped you from making more?” O’Brien asked.

“They told us we should never make any more,” Apatow replied and added, “We were very happy that we got to tell the story that we wanted to tell, and we do have an ending.”

Apatow and Holmes executive produced the series with Judah Miller, Igor Srubshchik and Oren Brimer.
