CBS Renews “Mom” For Two More Seasons

The female-led comedy Mom has been renewed for two more seasons.

CBS has renewed the Chuck Lorre-created comedy for Seasons Seven and Eight. The series stars Anna Faris and Allison Janney as daughter/mother duo Christy and Bonnie Plunkett, who, both struggle with addiction, attempt to pull their lives and relationship together after having been estranged for years.

“We’re exceptionally proud to have Mom on our air; a high-quality, signature comedy with characters viewers love, that also brings strength and stability to our lineup,” said Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment, in a statement. “Under Chuck Lorre’s extraordinary leadership and with his outstanding writing and production team, we look forward to having Mom on CBS for many years to come.”

“We’re fortunate to have the gifted talents of Anna and Allison, with their wit, intelligence and incomparable comic skill, heading up such a brilliant cast on this noteworthy series,” added Thom Sherman, senior EVP of programming at CBS Entertainment.

According to Deadline who was first to report the news, Mom is currently broadcast TV’s #3 comedy series among total viewers behind Lorre’s Big Bang and Young Sheldon.
