Alongside the announcement they posted the first picture of Larson in costume on the film set.
The movie is highly anticipated for a number of reasons. Firstly, it will be Marvel’s first female-led superhero blockbuster. DC’s 2017 Wonder Woman was a great success, grossing $819 million in the box office worldwide. We’re keen to see if Captain Marvel will match DC’s Wonder Woman‘s popularity.
Captain Marvel is super strong, flies and has the ability to absorb and project energy. We think she will be a popular hit for Marvel movie fans.
The feature will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and will star Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. It will bring together many characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Samuel L Jackson who will co-star as Nick Fury.
The release date was originally announced as July 6th this year, but the project was pushed back after Spider-Man was reintroduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The current scheduled release date is March 8th 2019.
