Michelle Yeoh boards James Cameron’s forthcoming Avatar films.

Multiple outlets confirm that the Crazy Rich Asians and Star Trek: Discovery star has joined the acclaimed franchise and is set to play scientist Dr. Karina Mogue. However, it is unknown in which of the four sequels she’ll appear in, or how many.

“Throughout her career, Michelle has always created unique and memorable characters. I look forward to working with Michelle to do the same thing on the Avatar sequels,” Cameron said in a statement.

The Cameron-helmed original Avatar film was released in 2009 and is still the highest grossing film of all time, with $2.7 billion globally. The first sequel is slated for December 2020. Returning for the Avatar sequels are Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, Matt Gerald, and Sigourney Weaver. Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, and Oona Chaplin have also been tapped to star.
