Just days after Avengers: Infinity War took us all by storm, Marvel has released the trailer for the summer’s feature Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Peyton Reed directed the sequel to his 2015 film Ant-Man, which starred Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Michael Douglas as former SHIELD inventor Hank Pym alongside his daughter Hope, played by Evangeline Lily. The film had a $142 million budget but went on to gross $519.3 million.
In the upcoming feature, Ant-Man teams up with Hope’s secret identity, the Wasp. She can also shrink down to insect size but might actually be slightly cooler, because she can fly. In the trailer, when Ant-Man gives her orders to stay low in combat, she retorts:
“I have wings. Why would I stay low?”
The trailer also shows more of Ant-Man. Scott boasts that he doesn’t just shrink, but once grew up to 65 ft. It consequently looks as if the sequel will be bigger than the debut in more ways than one.
The general vibe from the trailer is that the movie will have a lighter comedic tone, which will be refreshing after the intensity of Avengers: Infinity War. It does not look like it will be as bombastic as Deadpool though and seems to have something of a more serious plot going on, although it is not entirely clear what that will be yet.
The movie comes out on July 6th.
