“A Black Lady Sketch Show” Renewed for Season 2

Shout unto the heavens for HBO has renewed A Black Lady Sketch Show!

The premium cabler has picked up the half-hour sketch comedy series for a second season. 

The series features sketches performed by a core cast of black women, namely creator Robin Thede as well as Ashley Nicole Black, Gabrielle Dennis and Quinta Brunson.

The first season also featured an impressive lineup of celeb guest appearances, including Angela Bassett, Laverne Cox, Lena Waithe and Larry Wilmore.

Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO programming, announced the news. “It’s been thrilling to see the audience embrace the characters that Robin, Ashley, Gabrielle and Quinta have brought to life,” she said.

“We had a blast making this groundbreaking sketch show with Robin, Dime and all of the writers and producers, and I can’t wait to see what next season holds.” 

Lauren Ashley Smith serves as head writer with Insecure’s Isssa Rae serving as executive producer.
