Tobey Maguire played a superhero before it was cool. He played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Sam Raimi’s original trilogy based on the Marvel’s iconic character and it turns out he pretty much liked it.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Maguire said that he wouldn’t mind playing another superhero in the future.

“I just don’t really have an ‘I would or wouldn’t do’ mindset,” said Maguire. “I’ll just do whatever. … Whatever it is that comes that I feel called to, that may or may not fit in any kind of box.”

After Maguire played Spider-Man in the original film series, Andrew Garfield took on the role of Spidey in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man and its 2014’s sequel. The character was then recast once again when Tom Holland was cast in the role for 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and then standalone movie from 2017 Spider-Man: Homecoming.

While noting that he didn’t see all the subsequent Spider-Man movies that came after him, Maguire said that he liked the performances from both actors.

“What I’ve seen, I’ve appreciated,” he added. “I like both of the actors a ton. I think they’re both super talented. I would just say I appreciated them and I like the actors, I like the choices.”

Tobey Maguire hasn’t been on the big screen since 2014, as he focused more on producing. Maybe a superhero role is what it takes to get him back to acting. We’ll just have to wait and see.
