The First Downton Abbey Trailer is Here

Matthew Goode and Michelle Dockery in the "Downton Abbey" film

Here they go!

The first official trailer for the Downton Abbey movie is finally here and after much waiting, fans get to see what big event is happening at Downton.

When director Michael Engler said of the film, “life is settling into these new realities when this event happens at Downton that brings everybody together” last year, it stirred quite a lot of speculation what that momentous event could be.

Now the trailer reveals that the big event is actually a royal visit to Downton. That’s right — set about 18 months after the end of the series, the family will get to meet King George V and his wife, Queen Mary.

The highly anticipated feature adaptation of the small screen acclaimed series stars all our favorite characters from the show including Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery), Carson (Jim Carter), and Bertie (Harry Hadden-Paton), Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) and the Countess of Grantham (Maggie Smith), among others.

Looks like the Downton movie is bringing the romance, the intrigue, the pageantry, but in a much bigger way!

Downton Abbey hits theaters September 20.
