Now that the Big Bang Theory has come to an end, we have the chance to look back on our favorite science geeks and see how they have evolved across 12 seasons of great television.

Howard may have finished the series as a loving husband and father, but let’s not forget how cringey some of his moments were earlier on the show. Here’s 5 that made us face-palm.

Penny Punch (The Killer Robot Instability)

After flirting with Penny for two seasons, Penny finally reacts and calls him weird and creepy, telling him no girl will ever love him. After apologizing, Howard goes in for a kiss, resulting in a pretty deserved punch in the face.

Goth Girls (The Gothowitz Deviation)

In a desperate attempt to pick up a pair of goth girls, Raj and Howard dress up as goths and wear fake tattoos sleeves. Their plight eventually fails when the girls suggest they get tattoos together, and they run away like a pair of screaming children.

Howard Eats A Peanut (The Peanut Reaction)

In order to keep Leonard away from a surprise party, Howard fakes a peanut reaction. He is about to give up when Penny tells him that if he keeps him occupied longer, she will tell him which of her friends “are easy” (ew, we know). The sleezebag responds by eating a peanut and risks his own life for a random lay.

Robotic Arm Incident (The Robotic Manipulation)

Howard borrows a robotic arm from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which he “falls penis first into.” Raj and Leonard have to take him to the hospital to remove the robot arm. On arrival, the receptionist simply turns the robot off and he is freed. Yikes.

Mars Rover Crash (The Lizard Spock Expansion)

In order to impress a girl (Stephanie Barnett), Howard promises her she can drive the Mars rover. After taking the control, he crashes it and instantly destroys millions of dollars worth of scientific research. And then Stephanie falls for Leonard instead. Oops.

The Big Bang Theory director has warned fans not to expect an explosive “atomic bomb” ending.

Director Mark Cedrowski has revealed to Nellie Andreeva that even he isn’t quite sure exactly how the final season will wrap up. What he can say is that the ending will be left open and have the feeling that the character’s lives “will continue on.”

“I honestly don’t know that much,” Cedrowski told Deadline. “The final episode has not been written completely yet; it’s been outlined. I will say the one thing about how they’ve approached the whole season: When we learned that this was to be the last season … writers have approached it, not so much as the show is wrapping up and we’ll never see them again and the finality of it all. “

“It’s going to be the last episode and it’s going to end, but people’s lives still go on,” he added. “The characters will be giving the idea that their lives continue on. It’s not going to be an atomic bomb where things blow up and you never see anybody again.”

The final episode ever of The Big Bang Theory will air on CBS, May 15.

It’s a date fans have been expecting and dreading.

CBS has announced The Big Bang Theory finale airdate — the final episode of the long-time running series will air May 16.

The hourlong series finale will give fans a chance to say goodbye to the series, which aired its first episode on September 24, 2007. According to The Wrap, by the time the series ends, it will be the longest-running multi-camera series in television history with 279 episodes.

Producers and stars have been tight-lipped on how they’ll end. A few months ago all that Chuck Lorre told Deadline was: “we have a general idea of what we are aiming for with May and the finale. These days there’s a lot of melancholy in the background at all times. It’s been a 12-year project that has been really just a joy. It’s going to be very, very sad to let it go.”

The stars of the popular show are Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Mayim Bialik, Melissa Rauch, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar. The show garnered 52 Emmy nominations and won 10.

The Big Bang Theory is wrapping up after this upcoming season, and you are feeling like someone is just taking away all the comedy from your life? Well, worry not. While The Big Bang Theory is a great sitcom without a doubt, there are still plenty of other shows that can fill the void. We decided to do a bit of research and managed to find four great shows you must watch if you like The Big Bang Theory.

These shows don’t just share similar humor as the CBS hit comedy, but they are also entertaining in their own right. So, after The Big Bang Theory bows out, you’ll have something to keep you occupied until the mourning period is over. Let’s check them out.

Young Sheldon

Why don’t go with an obvious choice? Young Sheldon is a direct spinoff of The Big Bang Theory, with the same creators and writers working on the project. It focuses on Sheldon’s high school days and him growing up in Texas. The sitcom became an immediate hit with the audience and is just about to enter its second season, so it should go on for years.

New Girl

Now let’s try with an unconventional choice. While the show doesn’t have the “geeky” feel to it, the story shares some similar elements to The Big Bang Theory. A girl moves into an apartment building with three guys, which causes numerous funny situations.

The IT Crowd

The IT Crowd revolves around the three members of Reynholm Industries’ IT department and their everyday lives. It has a group of nerds as main characters like The Big Bang Theory, but the jokes are a lot simpler, and you don’t have to be into science or pop culture to get them. Four seasons of the show have aired so far.

Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley focuses on five friends who are trying to start a company in Silicon Valley and is by far the best option to move on to after The Big Bang Theory. You’ll get all the things The Big Bang Theory offers – nerdy jokes, cringey moments, and science – but on a much larger scale. Five seasons have already aired and more are on the way, so you’ll be set for a couple of years at least.

Everyone loves an on-screen romance. The trouble is, when a series decides to continue past season 3, it often becomes tiresome waiting to find out whether our potential couple will tie the knot or call it quits. Here are five TV couples we wish had made their decision 5 seasons sooner.

Ross and Rachel (Friends)

Ross and Rachel practically invented the on-screen “will they, won’t they” relationship. It took them ten seasons of dates, fights, marriage, divorce and having a baby together to finally realize they wanted to be together. By that point, we didn’t really care… (joking, of course we did).

Nick and Jess (New Girl)

From the early episodes of season one, it became obvious that there was something between Nick and Jess. Still, it took them several seasons of working out how they feel and dating then breaking up to finally get it together in the season 6 finale.

JD and Eliot (Scrubs)

JD and Eliot were more on-and-off than Robert Pattinson in the first half hour of Twilight. Despite the fact that the whole point of their relationship is that they don’t work together, the producers and writers opted for the cliche of them ending up together after a merry-go-round of relationship failure.

Penny and Leonard (The Big Bang Theory)

The Big Bang Theory managed to put off marrying the two characters we have been rooting for from episode one until season nine. That means we had to endure over 160 episodes waiting to see if they’d actually go through with it. Yawn.

Robin and Ted (How I Met Your Mother)

We spent nine whole seasons waiting to see how Ted met the mother of his children, only to meet her for a few episodes before she was killed off. The rest of the show seemed to focus on Ted’s unconditional love for Robin and his regret for not doing enough about it until the very last episode.

Reckon we’re being too harsh? Let us know in the comments below.

The upcoming season 12 of The Big Bang Theory will also be its last. The future seemed bright for TBBT a few months ago, since it looked like this CBS’ comedy will stay on screen for the foreseeable future. But, as it turns out, the end was nearer than we thought.

“We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of The Big Bang Theory during the past twelve seasons. We, along with the cast, writers, and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and the series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close,” said Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions in a joint statement.

The news comes just weeks after CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl confirmed that there were preliminary talks with the cast for season 13 and beyond. The things obviously changed really fast.

“The Big Bang Theory has been the defining comedy of its generation,”- said Kahl in a statement on Wednesday. “All of us at the network take exceptional pride in this series that uniquely combines creative genius, commercial rating success, cultural influence, and characters who became so popular, they are easily known by just one name. We’re incredibly grateful for our partnership with Warner Bros., Chuck Lorre Productions and a brilliant cast and crew that has made such a ‘big bang’ and lasting legacy on the television landscape.”

Despite entering its twelfth season, The Big Bang Theory continues to be a big rating success for CBS. It was the TV’s No. 1 comedy until the 2017-18 season when ABC’s Roseanne revival took over the lead.

Season 12 of The Big Bang Theory is set to premiere on Monday, September 24. The finale will air in May 2019, with what will be the sitcom’s 279th episode.
