]]>The clip was unveiled during a concert featuring Ludacris and other artists, including Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, at Miami, Florida, on Friday. The trailer was also streamed live to fans on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
The official trailer features Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto saying, “Now that I’m a father, I can’t live my life a quarter-mile at a time anymore.” But the situation quickly turns ominous, as Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty gifts their son with a necklace and says “it’s for protection — from what’s coming.”
Also starring in F9 are Ludacris, Charlize Theron, Michael Rooker, John Cena, and Helen Mirren, while two of the franchise’s stars — The Rock and Jason Statham will not returning.
F9 hits theaters on May 22.

]]>Multiple outlets report that Cardi B has joined the cast of the ninth installment of the high-speed franchise. She joins the recently announced Ozuna, Latin music’s superstar, who is also in talks to helm the film’s soundtrack.
News of the casting was confirmed by franchise original star Vin Diesel on Tuesday via Instagram. The clip features the two on the UK set of the movie.
“I’m tired, but I can’t wait,” Cardi told Diesel’s followers. “I ain’t gonna front, I think this is going to be the best one.”
The rapper’s new acting gig follows her most recent movie part since her role as the stripper Diamond in STX’s drama Hustlers.

]]>Multiple outlets confirm that the singer turned actor has signed with Hollywood agency UTA quickly after landing his first gig. According to Variety, he’s also in talks to join the film’s soundtrack.
The ninth installment in the fast speed franchise will be directed by Fast & Furious 6 helmer Justin Lin. Lin is set to direct from a script by Dan Casey based on an original idea by Lin himself and Alfredo Botello.
Vin Diesel is returning as Dominic Toretto. He’ll be joined by other original stars as well as newcomers including John Cena and Charlize Theron.

]]>According to Entertainment Weekly, Rooker will play a character named Buddy. There are no other details regarding this last minute casting.
Rooker joins previously announced Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, and Helen Mirren.
Returning to direct is Justin Lin from a screenplay by Dan Casey. Lin helmed the franchise’s third through sixth installments. Diesel is producing the sequel through his One Race Films and Lin for Perfect Storm Entertainment.
Rooker’s credits include The Walking Dead, True Detective, Fantasy Island, Monster Problems, and Amazon’s The Dark Tower pilot.
The feature is scheduled to hit theaters May 22, 2020, however, the 9th installment isn’t Fast & Furious’ last as a 10th installment is already in place for April 2021.

It is still unclear what role Cena will play. However, with the news that Dwayne Johnson, aka the Rock, is not set to return for F&F 9, it’s fair to assume that Cena will in some way take over from the former professional wrestler.
In his original post Diesel only said to expect “a badass.”
The feature will be directed by four-time F&F helmer Justin Lin. Dan Casey is writing the screenplay. Production is slated to begin next month for a May 22nd, 2020 release.
