With productions being postponed left and right, we thought this would be the perfect time to introduce to you the stellar cast of American Horror Story season 10.

The forthcoming installment of FX’s hit horror franchise has a BIG cast, which features both returning series veterans as well as newcomers. The full list was revealed by series co-creator Ryan Murphy on Instagram.

Returning stars include Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who both sat out season 9. They will be joined by additional returning players — Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, and Finn Wittrock, and first-time AHS star Macaulay Culkin.

AHS was recently renewed through season 13.

“Ryan and Brad [Falchuk] are the undisputed masters of horror TV, having created the anthological limited series with American Horror Story and sustaining its success for nearly a decade as FX’s highest-rated series,” John Landgraf, FX Networks and FX Productions chairman, said in a statement in January 2020. “We are grateful to them and Dana Walden and our studio partners for committing to another three years.”

FX’s anthology horror series American Horror Story is set to return in the fall of 2019, but there will be one familiar face missing. Evan Peters, who is the only actor alongside Sarah Paulson to appear in all eight seasons, recently revealed that he wouldn’t be part of the series’ cast for season nine.

During an interview at WonderCon, Peters was asked directly whether he is involved in the new season of American Horror Story.

“No. I’m going to sit a season out,” the 32-year-old actor responded.

You can watch the clip in which Peters confirms he won’t be involved in the next season below.

We currently don’t have many details on American Horror Story season nine, which enters production in the summer of 2019, except that Emma Roberts will return while Gus Kenworthy was cast to play her boyfriend. The series was recently renewed for season 10 which will premier in 2020.

While he takes a break from AHS, Evan Peters will reprise his role of Peter Maximoff / Quicksilver in Dark Phoenix, the latest entry in X-Men film series. He is also expected to return for season two of Pose while also making an appearance in the movie I Am Woman.

It hasn’t been long since we were treated to Ryan Murphy’s take on the end of the world, but he’s already teasing us with loose plans for season 9.

We’ve seen Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters take on a haunted house, an asylum, a witch coven, a freak show, a vampire filled evil hotel, a cannibal nightmare, a sick cult and the apocalypse. We have absolutely no idea how the last season can be topped but we have no doubt that Ryan Murphy has some surprises up his sleeve.

Back in December, Murphy teased: “We have something really fun planned.” It sounds like the show will be taking a step back after the climactic Murder House/Coven crossover.

This week, Murphy shared a picture of Olympic medallist Gus Kenworthy on Instagram, announcing that Emma Roberts, who plays the infamous Madison in Coven, will be back for season 9.

“That special moment when you realize you have an Olympic medal AND will be playing Emma Roberts’ boyfriend on American Horror Story Season 9,” he captioned the photo.

It’s unknown whether Emma Roberts will be reprising her role as Madison. It’s unlikely that season 9 will air before the end of 2019 but hopefully we will know more about the cast soon.

Looking for a scary series to sink your teeth into? Here are 10 of the scariest and most binge-worthy horror series from the 21st century.

Santa Clarita Diet

Starring Drew Barrymore, Santa Clarita Diet revives the zombie concept and transforms it into something hilariously modern and original.

Penny Dreadful

The drama series plucks its sinister characters from literary works from the 1800s. It’s captivating and very stylish.

True Blood

True Blood is a raunchy and daring dark fantasy horror show about some very sexy vampires.

Supernatural

Supernatural follows two brothers as they hunt sinister and frightening monsters. It’s in its 14th season right now, so if you want a horror show that will keep you occupied for months, Supernatural might be a good choice.

Hannibal

Hannibal contains some incredibly gruesome murders, which are presented to us so artistically that we forget how horrible what we are looking at really is.

Stranger Things

Stranger Things was the show everyone was raving about when it first came to Netflix in 2016. It’s incredibly well written and has some very creepy moments.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

OK, it technically started in the 90’s, but Buffy ran into the 2000’s and was so forward thinking and relevant that it deserves to be on the list. Plus, it’s got everything from demons to vampires, ghosts and werewolves. Oh, and Buffy’s best friend is a witch.

American Horror Story

American Horror Story is the pinnacle of TV horror. It spans over eight seasons, each telling a different story, and it contains monsters and murders more frightening then most of the movies we’ve seen.

The Walking Dead

The horror drama follows survivors of the zombie apocalypse and is one of the most popular shows on television right now.

The Haunting of Hill House

Netflix’s latest horror series is so frightening that many didn’t make it past the first few episodes. If you’re feeling brave, it’s absolutely worth the watch.

As the release date of AHS: Season 8 creeps closer (it’s September 12th if you haven’t written it down in your diary yet), we’ve decided to go back and rewatch the first seven seasons of the show and rank them from worst to best. You’re welcome.

7. Roanoke

Whilst retaining lots of the thrills and shows characteristic of the AHS series, Roanoke’s stylistic shift made it feel slightly removed from the signature feel of the show.

6. Cult

Everyone rolled their eyes when the creators said that they would be making the latest season of the show political. That being said, the producers managed to pull it off without making it too preachy or cringey. Still, the plots were messy and none of the characters were particularly enticing.

5. Freak Show

Our main criticism of season 4 is that there is too much going on. The plots are so abundant that they become messy and the characters remain mostly underdeveloped. Nonetheless, the season is gruesome, creative and colorful and the season’s inventive array of murders are definitely entertaining.

4. Coven

With its mainly female cast, Coven had a strong sense of female empowerment. Put together with witchcraft and a few zombies, this places is it firmly at fourth on the list.

3. Hotel

Season 5 is dark, twisted and strangely seductive. The fabulous soundtrack and Murphy’s array of eccentric characters (Lady Gaga’s sexy vampire queen living in the penthouse being at the top of that list) bumps the season up to third on our list.

2. Asylum

Asylum is the darkest and most disturbing season of the whole series. With its dank and claustrophobic setting, this season is not one to watch before you go to bed.

1. Murder House

Most people will agree that the opening season of AHS was perhaps its most iconic. With its dynamic story line, involving characters and creepy atmosphere, this truly set the tone for what the most popular horror show on TV is all about.

It was revealed on Friday morning that the official title for the upcoming eighth season of American Horror Story will be Apocalypse. Season eight of this anthology series will premiere in September 2018 and is set to feature a crossover between two earlier seasons; Murder House and Coven.

The title reveal for the upcoming season of American Horror Story came via posters posted on the series’ social media accounts.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BlceA_An5T4/?utm_source=ig_embed

These posters might give us some good hints about the characters that will return from Murder House and Coven in Apocalypse. The red baby might be the Antichrist baby that Vivian (Connie Britton) gives birth to at the end of the Murder House and ends up being taken by Constance (Jessica Lange).

But we will have to wait September to know for sure since the plot of Apocalypse is being kept under wraps. Still, the series creator Ryan Murphy decided to reveal some bits during his earlier media appearances.

“It’s a season, unlike anything we’ve done because there’s a big hook to it. There’s a huge thing that happens in episode five,” Murphy told EW back in May. “You will see so many fan favorites return that you’ll feel like it’s The Love Boat. It’s a very high concept.”

Alongside Evan Peters, who is the only cast member to be featured in each season, Apocalypse will see Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, Cheyenne Jackson, Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Billy Eichner, Adina Porter, Leslie Grossman and Joan Collins all joining the cast.

Other details we previously learned about American Horror Story season eight include the fact that the story will be set at some point in 2019 and that production officially began in June. Also, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson will get an opportunity to direct one episode each.

Each season of American Horror Story (AHS) features a new and terrifying setting. We’ve seen haunted houses, circuses from the past, an asylum, a murder hotel and a forest of cannibals. What could they possibly do next? The setting for the new season has not yet been announced, but fans are piecing the clues together after the season title “Radioactive” was leaked.

Previously this year, the show’s creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy shared on the Television Critics Association’s press tour the following about the upcoming season:

“I pitched it to [FX boss] John Landgraf today right after his TCA panel, and he loved it, but he’s asked me not to say what it is,” said Murphy. “I told him and he fell out of his chair with joy. I think people will like it, it’s different from what we’ve done before, but I always try and do the opposite of what I’ve done on that show.”

Murphy has kept quiet about what the new season’s horror will be, but fans are guessing from the title that it will be post-apocalyptic and feature mutated horrors. Murphy also said of the season:

“All I’ll say about it is I want to go to the future—still topical, but the future, which I’ve never done.”

Nothing is certain, but we think we can safely assume from what we’ve seen so far that it will be utterly horrifying.

What would it be like to live in a house which was used in a movie or television series? For Dr. Ernst R. von Schwartz and Pier Angela Oakenfold it has been a nightmare living in the Murder House. Back in 2015, the couple purchased the infamous house which was used in the first season of  FX’s anthology series American Horror Story (AHS).

According to CBS News, the couple explains that because of the show’s popularity with a loyal and crazed fan-base, there are often hundreds of fans that try to trespass in order to get a closer look at the house every single day. In order to give themselves some privacy, the couple even built a fence around the house, but this defense has done nothing to keep the fans from trespassing and taking pictures of the property.

The couple recalled one vivid trespassing example on CBS This Morning, where they saw fans scale the walls of the fence with the help of a garbage truck lift. Oakenfold explained that “He [the garbage truck driver] put them [AHS fans] in the crane and he elevated it.” She recalls the shocking to CBS This Morning  that “I’m in my bathroom and I look out the bathroom window and there are teenage girls screaming in at me.”

According to Variety, the couple does not wish to sell the mansion but are seeking punitive and compensatory damages from the previous owners and Real Estate agency in the amount of $3 million because both parties did not inform them about the crazed fans prior to purchasing the property.

In an interview with CBS News, Schwartz argued that “We feel like they cheated us. We want to live here of course, but it’s very difficult especially since we don’t feel safe.”

If you aren’t up to date with American Horror story (AHS), beware of spoilers. With seven seasons to date, every time we think that AHS can’t get any more horrifying, it disturbingly exceeds our expectations. The series is filled with shocking and grotesque moments but we have picked out five of the most gruesome so far.

Dr Thredson’s basement (Asylum)

It seems as if Lana has finally gotten away but when she arrives in his house it is revealed that Dr Thredon is in fact the season’s elusive murderer, Bloodyface. When she falls into the basement she is greeted by her dead girlfriend and a series of horrific events follow.

Violet’s death (Murder House)

We still can’t get Violet’s face out of our heads when she is revealed as dead in the trapdoor.

Minotaur (Coven)

The infamous Minotaur moment comes instantly to mind when ranking the most gruesome moments, but the entire story revolving the violent villain is deeply disturbing.

Elsa’s movie (Freak Show)

We hadn’t sympathised much with Elsa before the moment we learn of her unfortunate, disturbing past. Dreaming of being an actress, she is promised stardom which turns out to in fact involve landing the lead role in a snuff movie. There are several gruesome moments in Freak Show but there is something especially sinister about what happened to Elsa.

Rasper Shelly (Asylum)

The image of horribly mutated, legless Shelly as she clambers up the steps on the school playground desperate to be put out of her misery is the most shocking and unpleasant of the series. Some things you just can’t unsee.
