Netflix is now entering the Broadway shows business. The company announced that Bruce Springsteen’s highly acclaimed Broadway show Springsteen on Broadway is coming to the streaming service in December. This special, set to be filmed in the near future, will be released in time for the show’s final-night performance.

“We are thrilled to bring Bruce Springsteen—a master storyteller, humanitarian and voice of the everyman—to Netflix in this historic one-man show,” said Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos in a statement. “This groundbreaking experience defies the boundaries of theater, concerts, and film and will give our global audience an intimate look at one of the biggest cultural icons of our time.”

Springsteen on Broadway, which features Bruce Springsteen performing acoustic versions of his greatest hits and reciting parts of his autobiography Born to Run, was initially supposed to have an eight-week run at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York City. Still, due to show’s enormous popularity and high demand for tickets, the initial run was extended two times with the final-night performance now set for December 15, 2018. This will add to a total of 236 performances The Boss did at the Walter Kerr Theatre, all of which were sold out.

“The purpose of the film is to bring this incredibly intimate show to Bruce’s entire audience intact and complete,” Springsteen’s manager and show producer Jon Landau added. “In addition to its many other virtues, Netflix has provided for a simultaneous worldwide release, which is particularly important for our massive international audience. Ted Sarandos and the entire company’s support has been a perfect match for Bruce’s personal commitment to the filmed version of Springsteen on Broadway.”
