Robert Pattison edged out Nicholas Hoult for the coveted role of the Caped Crusader.
After both actors were screen tested, it’s official — Pattison is the new Batman. Warner Bros. confirmed the decision Friday and that negotiations are already underway.
Pattison will take over the role from Ben Affleck, who starred two Warner Bros. DC films. Entertainment Weekly reports that the studio intends to sign Pattinson for a three-picture deal.
The Twilight star and Warner Bros. are in talks for the actor to play the lead in The Batman, the forthcoming feature, which is an origin story helmed by Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes).
Pre-production is expected to start this summer, with the film slated to arrive in theaters June 25th, 2021.
