Rachel Zegler made quite a splash with her breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and it was just a matter of time before other high-profile projects started coming her way. She’s just been cast as the main female lead in the highly-anticipated movie The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

This project serves as the prequel to the popular The Hunger Games franchise, and it shifts focus to the 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow. He ruled Panem with an iron fist during his time as the president and was played by Donald Sutherland in the original films.

Tom Blyth is set to replace Sutherland in the role of the young Snow, and Zegler is joining him as Lucy Gray Baird. She’s a tribute from impoverished District 12, who managed to impress all of Capitol with her singing at the reaping ceremony and is set to be mentored by Snow.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is only the latest on the long list of projects that Zegler is working on right now. Following the success of her Golden Globe-nominated role in West Side Story, she’s set to appear in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and play the titular role in Disney’s live-action adaptation of the animated classic Snow White.
