“Pose” Renewed for Season 2 on FX

After respectable ratings and positive reviews from the critics, Pose received a season two order from FX. According to the official press release by the network, new episodes will come in 2019. The first season, which is currently airing, consists of eight episodes.

Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk (Glee, American Horror Story) alongside Steven Canals (Dead of Summer), Pose follows New York’s ball scene in the 1980s and its partakers while also exploring other segments of life and society in this period.

The show made history for having the largest transgender cast on television which included Mj Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar, and Angelica Ross. They were joined by Evan Peters, Kate Mara, and James Van Der Beek, among others.

“Ryan Murphy has once again revolutionized television with Pose, an incredibly engaging story of creativity, courage, compassion, love, and family at a pivotal time in our culture,” said FX CEO John Landgraf following the announcement of the season two order.

“As television critics have universally acknowledged, there is simply nothing like Pose on TV, so effortlessly excelling on every creative level and earning a place in television history for its infectiously inclusive spirit. We are honored to partner with our producers Ryan, Brad Falchuk, Steven Canals, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall and Sherry Marsh, and the incredible cast and crew to continue this groundbreaking journey that is Pose.”

Pose premiered in June 2018, meeting with glowing reviews and currently holding 96% approval rating on the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. The first six episodes averaged close to 600,000 viewers.
